Perttu`s record-breaking zander 14,9 kg

Zander season has started only a moment ago and now old records are already history. A keen angler, Perttu Haanpää, who is living in Karkkila, Southern Finland, got the heaviest bite of his life on May 13. A huge, one meter long plump zander swallowed a soft plastic in the afternoon. After weighing and photoing the happy angler released the whopper back to water.

Official Finnish zander record of 21st century is 14,09 kg. So far the record is held by Mr. Toni Ikävalko and Mr. Eero Mattila, who caught the fish by trolling in 2013 . The International Game Fish Association maintains the statistics of record fish of the world. Current IGFA all tackle zander record is “modest” 11,48 kg.
